Safety Valve Leaking

The Safety Valve is just what its name implies....A safety feature. Should pressure get abnormally high, it is designed to automatically open and release the pressure

The Safety Valve is located on the top of the chamber and towards the rear. The little panel located on the top and to the rear of the autoclave is connected to the Safety Valve

Is the Safety Valve Leaking?

It is easy enough to know for sure: If you notice a puddle of water under the rear of the autoclave as shown below, then the safety valve is leaking and needs to be replace. Also, steam coming from the rear of the unit is another symptom the Safety Valve is leaking

The Midmark Safety Valve on the Newer Autoclaves is connected to a release handle on top of the autoclave. The handle is there so you can release the Safety Valve manually should conditions warrant it

This is where you will find the Midmark Safety Valve Release

The picture below is an open view of the autoclave to show you the Safety Valve's Location

here is the Midmark Safety Valve Release

The Safety Valve is connected to a black plastic elbow. And the elbow in turn is connected to black tubing about an inch in diameter.

here a view of the Midmark Safety Valve with the cabinet top off

When the safety valve opens, the steam is directed through the tubing and out through the floor of the autoclave. The steam is directed like this to keep it from reaching & damaging the electronics.

The tubing from the Safety Valve Goes Through The Floor of the Autoclave

If you see a puddle of water under the right hand side of the autoclave, then you know the safety valve is defective and needs to be replace
