How To Replace The Statim Thermal Fuse

Warning: Turn the Statim OFF & Unplug It Before Proceeding
Procedure Panel
1) Remove The Statim Cabinet Housing
    (a) Remove 2 Screws from each side of the Statim and 3 screws on the back, holding cabinet in place

    (b) Lift rear of panel and slide forward until cassette passage is cleared & Lift off

Stand Housing on edge to the left of the unit and out of the way

2) Perform Continutity* Test of the Statim Thermal Fuse as described below by placing one lead on the number 3 wire (see figure 1-if the wire is not marked, simply start from the bottom and count up to the third wire) on the PC Board and the other lead to the wire located in front/left of the boiler (See Figure 7 In Statim Thermal Fuse Panel 2) .

If the Statim Thermal Fuse is bad, It needs to be replaced, Continue With Procedures. If the Thermal Fuse is okay, contact us for what to do next
Removing The Statim Thermal Fuse Assembly

1) Disconnect power cord from wall.

2) Remove the black wire marked "No. 3" (It is the third wire from the bottom of the connector) from the PC Board terminal block connector by turning the set screw counterclockwise and pulling the wire straight out. Do not remove the wire from the bundle at this time. (See Figure 1 On Statim Thermal Fuse Panel 1)

3) Remove the pump outlet Teflon tubing attached to the Statim boiler (steam generator) by using a 3/8" wrench on the compression nut while supporting the boiler fitting with a 7/16" wrench (See Figure 2 On Statim Thermal Fuse Panel 1)

4) Remove the silicone tubing from the Statim air compressor (See Figure 3 On Statim Thermal Fuse Panel 1)

5)Loosen the Statim boiler outlet copper tube using a 7/16" wrench on the compression nut while supporting the boiler outlet fitting with a 7/16" wrench. (See Figure 4 On Statim Thermal Fuse Panel 1)

6) Remove the two chassis screws from the Statim boiler bracket using a Phillips Head screwdriver (See Figure 5 On Statim Thermal Fuse Panel 2)

WARNING
DO NOT REMOVE
THE THERMOCOUPLE FROM THE STATIM BOILER
DO NOT KINK OR STRESS
THE THERMOCOUPLE

7) Carefully lay the boiler on its side towards the back of the machine, exposing the bottom side of the boiler. Remove the short screw holding the bracket and the Thermal Fuse(s)in place with a Phillips Head screwdriver while supporting the boiler by hand so as not to damage the Thermocouple, (See Figure 6 On Statim Thermal Fuse Panel 2)

Using a Phillips Head screwdriver, remove the Thermal Fuse(s) Ring Terminal which is mounted at the boiler. Do not remove the old Thermal Fuse wire from the bundle at this time (See Figure 7 On Statim Thermal Fuse Panel 2)

Clean any debris from where the Thermal Fuse mounts in the area of the standoffs before installing the new Thermal Fuse Assembly. This will help to insure good thermal conductivity. (See Figure 8 On Statim Thermal Fuse Panel 3)

Installing The Statim Thermal Fuse Assembly

9) Before you begin to install the new Statim Thermal Fuse Assembly, note the following:

CAUTION
AVOID KINKING/STRESSING
THE THERMOCOUPLE.

AVOID PINCHING THE WIRES
UNDER THE BOILER BRACKET

10) Mount the ring terminal and assemble the Thermal Fuse on the boiler. Align the Statim Thermal Fuse(s) within the spacing standoffs. Mount the bracket using the small screw. (See Figure 6 On Statim Thermal Fuse Panel 2) For Single Fuse Mount, also see the Footnote* Regarding the Single Fuse Mount below).

11) Place the boiler compression fitting onto the copper outlet tube. Screw on the compression nut onto the boiler fitting. Do not tighten at this time.

12) Mount the Statim Boiler bracket to the chassis and tighten.

13) Tighten all fittings and tubing.

14) Place the new Statim Thermal Fuse wire alongside the bundle of wires.

Using the new cable ties provided, wrap the new Thermal Fuse wire together with the bundle of wires.

Wrap the cable ties (do not tighten yet), one at a time, around the bundle of wires and the Thermal Fuse wire - maintaining the integrity of the bundled wires.

Connect the black # 3 wire to the PC Board terminal block connector (where you removed the old one). Tighten the set screw to hold the wire in place. Cut and remove old cable ties, then remove the old Thermal Fuse wire. Tighten all cable ties, then cut and remove the excess.

    15) Test the Statim.

*FOOTNOTE REGARDING THE STATIM SINGLE FUSE MOUNT. The earlier models use a single thermal fuse versus the newer models that use two thermal fuses. In which case, fuse # 2 shown in the illustration should not be mounted - simply route the fuse with the remainder of the wire as directed
